Acorns is serious about security. We’ve taken many steps to help keep your account and information protected when you create an account and use Acorns.

Our website and app are secured with 256-bit encryption. This means your personal and financial information can only be accessed by you and Acorns.

Is Acorns A Scam?

Our mission is to look after the financial best interests of the up-and-coming. While Acorns can’t guarantee the performance of the stock market, there are some things that are certain.

When you invest with Acorns, your money is invested into an Acorns investment portfolio. A brief explanation of the investing process is available on the “how long does it take to invest money” page. You can also view how your investments are performing at any time in the “Performance” section of the mobile app or web app.

Securities in your investment accounts are SIPC-protected up to $500,000. Find out more about SIPC Protection.

Your checking account, Acorns Spend, is FDIC-insured up to $250,000.

You can withdraw available funds and / or close your Acorns account at any time. Withdrawals may take 3-6 business days. For a more detailed explanation, see the “how long does it take to withdraw money” page.

Lastly, Acorns does not store your bank login information on its servers. However, some of your personal information is necessary to begin investing. For instance, your social security information must be collected to meet regulatory requirements.
