How Can I Close My Account?

We're sorry to hear that you'd like to close your Acorns account and hope to reconnect with you in the future!

If you’re using an Android or our web app, please complete the closure process on the Acorns website here.

If you have our iOS app, please follow these steps in your Acorns app:

1) Tap the menu in the left-hand corner of your screen. This looks like 3 horizontal lines.
2) Select “My Settings”
3) Select “Manage My Account”
4) Select “Close Account”

If you have a Later or Spend account, you will be directed to our support team so a representative can help you close the right account. If you are closing a Core account, please continue with these steps.

5) Select the reason for closing your account
6) Select “Next”
7) Select “Close Account” to confirm account closure

Please note, any pending investments that have not begun processing will be cancelled upon closure. Investments that have begun processing cannot be cancelled but will be liquidated and transferred to your funding source once the investments finish processing. You can check your Past screen to see if there are any processing investments.

Once you request to close your account, your funds will be liquidated and returned to your funding source in 3-6 business days.

Important Tax Information:

Please keep in mind, you may receive 1099 form from Acorns for your investment activity. Most investors do. We will let you know as tax time nears, or you can check for that document here during the next calendar year.
