How do I turn on Two-factor Authentication on my account?

Here’s how to help protect your information with Two-factor Authentication:

  1. After logging in to your account, tap on the menu (avatar) in the upper corner of the screen

  2. Tap "Settings" or click on "Profile & Settings"

  3. Tap or click on “Personal info”

  4. Look for your phone number

  5. If your phone number is correct and you see, “Verified,” you are all set! If you see “Unverified” next to the phone number, simply tap or click on the phone number

  6. On the next screen, you can change your phone number if needed, then tap or click “Verify” and follow the instructions

  7. A 6-digit code will be sent to your phone number via text message. Enter in the code to verify your phone number and enable Two-factor Authentication

If you do not receive the 6-digit code via text message, tap or click “Resend.” If you don’t receive a code after 3 tries, please contact our Acorns Support team.

If you lose access to your phone number or are unable to receive the verification codes via text message, please contact our Acorns Support team.

Will I be sent a verification code every time I log in?

If you enable Two-factor Authentication for your Acorns accounts, it will only take effect for these reasons:

  1. You are logging in with your email address and password, not your PIN

  2. The login attempt is flagged as suspicious or you are logging in from a device we don’t recognize.
