Set chores and payment amounts
First things first, set chores in the Acorns Early app for your kids to complete (check out our suggestions on chores for kids for inspiration). Then, set a payment amount for each chore.
Sit back and relax
Kids do their chores and you check on their work. If you’re happy with the results, you tick the chore off when it’s done.

Frequently asked

What is an allowance app?

Right arrow

Acorns Early is designed to help kids learn money skills and nurture their money confidence as they grow. An Acorns Early account includes a customizable debit card, app access, and a companion app for parents. This gives parents full transparency into your kid’s account, plus the ability to automatically pay allowance, assign chores, and more. You can even set spending limits and get real-time spend notifications for extra peace of mind.

Can an allowance app encourage kids to do chores?

Right arrow

Yes! We know that kids (and adults) respond to incentives, and Acorns Early makes it easy to reward kids for doing chores. Simply set your kids’ tasks in the app, then choose how much you’ll pay per task. Earning money for chores can increase a kid’s confidence and independence — plus they’ll learn the value of earning and how to manage their own finances. Not all families choose to pay their kid to do tasks, but a chores app like Acorns Early still offers a structured approach to empower your kid and gives them the satisfaction of ticking off completed tasks.

What are the benefits of giving kids chores?

Right arrow

Introducing your kid to household chores is a great way to teach them about responsibility and independence from a young age. Chores help kids improve their time management skills by developing a sense of routine. Plus, chores can help young people feel like they are contributing to their family. Paid tasks can also help get young people ready for the working world by teaching them about earning and money management.
